Want the best possible birth for you and your baby?

Hypnobirthing allows you to experience the magic of birth and puts you in charge so your baby will be born calm and alert as nature intended, able to bond with you quickly and settle into healthy sleeping and feeding patterns.

HypnoBirthing enables you to work with your body in a totally natural way - making birth a positive experience for you, your baby and your partner.

Learn how to:

Release fear, tension and pain
Reduce the likelihood of interventions
Achieve deep relaxation
Massage techniques to release endorphins - your body's natural anaesthetic
Visualisation exercises and affirmations to keep you grounded, serene and positive.

The knowledge and awareness learned in classes puts you in control

You are more likely to experience a natural, calm, drug free and comfortable birth - labour can be shorter and more comfortable.

In many cases no pain relief is needed throughout the whole empowering experience.

We had the perfect birth at home in the pool. The hypnobirthing was truly brilliant and M was amazing the way she did the breathing and visualisations.
Thank you v v v much for your help, it was invaluable.
Love and best wishes from us 3 xx DH

Partners can come too

HypnoBirthing can actively involve your partner who can become an integral and important part of the experience and it can work just as well if you come on your own.

Partners usually find that they feel more confident about what to expect and how to help when they too come to classes - and there is no extra charge - partners come free.

When to start classes?
From about month 4 onward. Although the sooner the better to give you time to practise and to enjoy a confident and calm pregnancy, it is never too late to start either - provided it is before you go into labour! I've taught some mothers right up to the line and they have gone on to have lovely calm, confident births.

About me

I trained to be a Hypno-Birthing instructor with Katharine Graves herself on her midwife approved teacher training course in London and I am also a fully qualified hypnotherapist and a trained ante-natal teacher having previously worked for the National Childbirth Trust for over seven years. I have attended a number of births and best of all have two children of my own - one delivered by emergency caesarian section after a long labour and one as a vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC) - so I have plenty of experience.

Much as I loved antenatal teaching there always seemed to be something missing - though it was hard to pinpoint. Hypno-Birthing has supplied that something. You can learn how to replace years of negative pictures and stories or past experiences of giving birth so that you can look forward to meeting your baby with confidence. No one can guarantee you a problem free birth but as well as reducing the likelihood of interventions being needed, Hypno-Birthing can also teach you how to remain calm and centred even when things are not as straightforward so that you can still have as good a birth experience as is possible.

So now I can, with confidence, teach you how to have the best possible birth experience for you using all my skills and experience. I am proud to be able to teach the Katharine Graves system of Hypno-Birthing.

Why Katharine Graves Hypnobirthing Method?

Katharine Graves method is designed especially for the UK. The material is written for the UK using English English - not American English. It is a flexible method which gives the teacher space to adapt what she does to fit the people she is teaching and local differences in maternity care. It is well thought out, well researched, fun and very easy for a labouring mum to use. Most of all it is very effective. Katharine Graves is an experienced hypnotherapist of many years standing who also trained as a doula with Dr Michel Odent - who pioneered the concept of water birth, the importance of not interfering with labour and many other aspects of improving the birth experience for women.

Her teacher training course is approved by the College of Midwives.
